There’s probably much more available information on driving traffic than there is on creating a site that will convert it. It goes beyond that, though, because your site needs to make your visitors, first, want to stay there. Of course content is huge, but how your site looks and feels will help determine how much people like being there. It’s a harsh decision, your visitors will decide in 3 seconds or less if you’re worthy of their attention. What really sucks is you will never get another chance. You know yourself that a website that is a total pain to deal with, and is not visually appealing, will not go far with making people want to stick around. You’ll only be helping yourself if you make the effort to do it right with your website. We want to go deeper in this, and hopefully it will help you with your site and conversions.
Web design is not just about the graphics or the content; you also need to avoid certain aspects such as, pop-ups which can irritate your visitors. You need to test because sometimes people will just leave right away if they see popups. Popups have a bad name, so you’ll need to be mindful about creating a bad impression for yourself. The conservative and probably profitable route to take is to not use them. People can think all kinds of things, and they may put you in the lot with spammers if you use them. You can always just use a subscription form on your site for gathering optins. All your website’s pages must have a uniform design. By changing the design from page to page, people on your site may become confused and have problems when they navigate looking for important content. All you need to do is use consistent color schemes across your whole website.
The position of important navigation links should not change from page to page, either. Even the fonts that you use should be consistent; use fonts that are readable.
It’s important to keep the text on your site readable, as it’s the most significant part. You never want to use red text on a black background. Black text on a white background always works, so you’ll want to stick to that. The easier you make it for people to read the copy on your site, the better it will be. If nobody takes the time to read your site’s copy, then all the traffic in the world won’t help. In conclusion, successful web design is not as complicated as it sounds. All you must do is keep the aforementioned suggestions in mind and handle all the little details. It is easy to design a site, but the difficulty comes in creating a site that is interesting to visitors.
